EBR - Job seeker tip 332 | CEO Corner: New Year's Resolutions
CEO Corner: New Year's Resolutions
Written by Soong Chong, Director
We are now well and truly into the year 2012. And most people would have either commenced in persuing their new years resolutions, are wavering and doubting their resolutions or have given up on their resolutions altogether.
What are your resolutions for the year? What area is it for you? Is your new years resolution in the area of fitness, investments, buying the latest toys & gadgets, work experience, education or creating new experiences?
For me it is all of the above. So below are some pointers which I find very useful in achieving resolutions:
- Create a vision board for 2012. Spend half a day cutting up pictures and pasting it on cardboard. It can consist of anything you want.
- Be very specific on your goals. If its losing weight, then have your goal as "I want to be 80 kilograms by 31st of March".
- Schedule it into your calendar. Break your goal into manageable tasks throughout the year.
- Get into a routine. For example, if it is going to the gym, get all your gear ready the night before and just get up and go the next morning.
- Get family and friends to hold you to accountable.
- Surround yourself with like minded people. It is very hard to achieve your fitness goal if the people around are not supportive or have other agendas.
- Get a coach. You could get a fitness coach to help you along with your fitness goals.
- Have measures in place to ensure that you are on track. These measures will indicates whether your are on track or not.
- Lastly, have fun with it. Make it a game & keep motivated to ensure success!
