Job seeker tip
Where are you going wrong?Where are you going wrong?
Has your job search been so far unsuccessful? Where are you going wrong? It's a fact that the best candidate does not always get the job. So why is that?
Simply, because employers hire the candidate who performed best in the interview! So where are you going wrong? EBR have put together some top tips in the three key areas of the interview phase to help you become the best interviewee!
Preparation
- Research the company - Find out who they are and what they do. Be prepared to answer questions based on the company's website content.
- Know your own CV - Having to constantly refer to your CV can make a bad impression.
Presentation
- First impressions are important - Dress in business attire.
- When meeting the interviewer, introduce yourself and shake the persons hand.
Personality
- Do not fidget and maintain eye contact.
- Try to be confident, and remain calm and composed.
- Shake the interviewer's hand when you arrive and when the interview ends.
- Avoid using jargon.
Remember that the interviewer will be assessing your personality as well as your skills and experience to try to find out if you are the right fit for the team. Most importantly, be positive and enthusiastic to show your interest in the company and the position!
