The Interview

EBR Celebrity Client Interview #2EBR Celebrity Client Interview #2, 08 Apr 2009

1) If you could be any sports star who would you be?

Michael Schumacher – on and off the track.

2) What types of music do you like listening to?

Recently I’ve been seriously getting into Savage Garden, Ace of Base and the Pet Shop Boys.

3) How did you get into the IT industry?

Being a geek at heart it didn’t take me long to fall into the IT industry.  A 3 month work experience stint after my studies turned into a full time role - it’s been full throttle ever since.

4) How long have you been with the company?

2 years contracting and just over 2 year’s fulltime.

5) What are the most enjoyable things about coming to work?

The incredible team I’m lucky have and the daily antics that go with it!

6) What is your thought on the current economic situation?!

It will eventually settle down, may take 1 year or it may take 5.  At the moment I believe it’s simply fueled by human emotions.  As Warren Buffet quotes – “Look at fluctuations as your friend rather than your enemy; profit from folly rather than participate in it”

7) Do you see this affecting you or your work place?

To date I’ve been lucky to not be seriously affected, unlike many others who are suffering from a redundancy or have defaulted on loans and investments.   From a workplace point of view - daily operations still have to continue no matter what economic climate were encountering.

8) What are the 3 most important traits you look for when hiring employees?

1) Strong communication / social skills and a “can do” attitude. 2) A thirst for knowledge and personal development. 3) Presentation.  Polish your shoes!

9) What are the 3 most important things in your life?

1) My Girlfriend 2) Reaching the goals I set. 3) Travelling the World

10) Who is someone you look up to most?

A close colleague of mine – he constantly takes on exciting and at times difficult challenges and always reaches his goals.  An ACE of all trades in his case.
