It's coming up to Christmas and the business seems to be winding down for the break. But you might be more stressed than ever! Does this sound like your workplace? Having a positive workplace relationship with your staff acn improve motivation and performance. One of the best ways of doing this is to alleviate some of the stress and negative feelings by taking a break and bringing some fun into your workplace.

Don't be too hard on your staff; they've worked hard all year through the tough times and the bad. So how can you join in on the fun while at the same time making the most of what time remains of 2009? The following tips are great ways to boost your team's morale!

Office party

Have an office party to wrap up your 2009. Christmas parties are a great opportunity to get to know your staff on a more personal level. After having a stressful year, what could be better than winding down with a glass of champagne, friendly chatter and finger food? You don't need to hire a venue to have a Christmas party. If you're right on budge, you can have one in the office instead.

Christmas Games - Secret Santa

Secret Santa's or Kris Kringle's are a great way to encourage staff interaction! With only a few weeks left till Christmas, you're running out of time to organise "Secret Santa" in your office. Write everyone's names on a slip of paper and put them into a hat or box. Then go around the office and get everyone to pick out a name. Make sure no one gets him or her self! It is then up to your staff members to write little notes and buy a small gift for that person. Keep the gifts small; make sure the budget is only $20 or so. What can you buy your Kris Kringle? A bottle of wine? A cookbook? A voucher? Some chocolate?

Food

In the lead up to Christmas, you can get your staff to contribute by each bringing in some food to share. Whether it's candy canes, Christmas pudding or strawberries dipped in chocolate, it is bound to be a success! No one can resist the temptation of food and lollies!
